Undermining Industry

I don’t exactly know what an impact WikiLeak can make but it seems everything is quite normal except the media. Well, the media must talk about it indeed and keep informing the public what has been revealed. I don’t think this is a problem as long as the concerned countries can ignore all the provoking talks. And it seems they’ll keep talking until something does happen…

I do want the whole world to become an open community of different cultures, different regions, and other differences – caring for each others, rather than undermining each others. But the world is not like that for the moment. We are not ready for this type of quality friendship. The world is not at all open.

So I don’t believe in open diplomacy for now. Open diplomacy will only serve those politicians from closed countries. And there are groups that have been attempting to influence each others. They need room for diplomacy that plays like a chess game – to think ahead more than one move. Also they need alternatives (e.g. plans for solutions) that they need to plan if what on the table doesn’t work. If openness is forced to be used constantly, nothing would be succeeded properly. However, openness would be a good thing to practice if all sides are sincere. If the concerned parties are not to give up any ground, there would be a nice fight, as there is no diplomacy (as a show) as they are just open to each others.

In persuasion (for example, North Korea nuclear ambitions), secrets are absolutely necessary that persuasion mustn’t look like kid play – here the skill is more necessary than openness. If North Korea is never to give up its plan for attaining nuclear weapons, openness means just war.

Openness is best when you’re at kindergarten level when you talk to your teachers and other trusted ones. Although I have nothing to hide, if we have to reveal what cards we’re holding, then they’d be never beaten by us but we will always be again and again. With the junta of Burma, who is blunt and cares nothing, our openness will only serve its secrecy and wit. But we’ve been so open so far as we’ve been on internet and talking about whatever in our minds. But we’ve never really felt clear about what in the mind of the junta – apart from its resolve to keep the power. And there is a danger of contempt – that nobody would care any international concern anymore if they no longer had secrets; that is they would never deny anything about their flaws and dirty ambitions but would face the accuses bluntly and keep doing whatever they are doing without any room for diplomacy.

I believe the world is made of many spies and double agents. I never doubted about this. Spies will never become an extinct species. They will be needed for ever necessary to make clear about important information. ‘Open Diplomacy’ will only become a political tool.

Lies have been around. In open diplomacy, lies won’t become extinct. It will only change its skins. And with those who will never become open, things will be always as difficult as ever.
