All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood.

(Article 1 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in Burmese)

No one shall be subjected to arbitrary arrest, detention or exile.

Article 9:

Those who have the kindness of benefit for others

For the sake of living beings, do not relax their powers.

Though these holy beings bear a heavy burden,

They never put it down and dwell in discouragement.

*the Great Chariot Sutra*

Burma is known as a golden land made of several ranges (or ‘Yoma’ in Burmese) where thousands of tribal memories, wisdoms, religions, cultures and beauties of plants and animals dwell. The rivers, all of them are indeed important to the people and other existences, snake through these beautiful mountainous regions and flow from the north to the south where Indian Ocean is. The peoples, Burma has 103 ethnics, all of them used to be really generous and all they knew was to give.

Since the modern day’s dictators have systematically destroyed, now the golden land is famous for its narcotic trades, refugees, migrant workers and various atrocities and sufferings.

One day, we’ll be free again and the land will be again famous for its beauty.

Trick Revealed or Booby-trap?

The desperate attempt of the SPDC to keep detaining Daw Suu is like a three year old kid telling a lie to his mother or like a kitten trying to hide its claws, or like swine flu to get pass through global attention.

It was the duty of the guards, police and other junta’s thugs to decide whether they should allow Mr. John Yettaw, a U.S. citizen, to reach the house of Ms. Aung San Suu Kyi which has been used as her detention place since 2003.

These guards,
who were always around, 24 hours a day, seven days a week and all year round watching the areas around her house, must be still there.

There was no news release from the junta how they’d investigate and charge the guards for not being dutiful. If allowing Mr. John Yettaw to reach her place wasn’t a plan of the junta, the guards could have been punished already – as it happened after the monks went and saw her during the early days of Saffron Revolution.

Also the junta had claimed that Mr. John Yettaw was there in her house for three days. If this is to be true, there is no reason why the guards only noticed him after three days stay. Ms. Suu Kyi could have told the guards or the people who send her food etc. must know the truth and if they didn’t informed the guards, they must believe the guards knew everything.

Even if the accusation were true, the house is the detention place used by the junta and everything, just anything, happened there must be the responsibility of the junta.

Ironically, it’s time to release her and we all know the junta wants to keep her. Although it wasn’t clear how the junta would trick us again, or create opportunity that can be used as an advantage, the real intention of the junta is not a myth.

In fact, the detentions of all these political prisoners are the breach of various human rights.

Indeed it’s worrisome whether she will be detained in Insein Prison as election is getting closer. I have no doubt they are interrogating her – at least they must be verbally vulgar, must be worse than the way they write in papers and magazines; and would use it as interrogating technique although she could have nothing to say.

The junta must have been deeply injured as Mr. Gambari was not coming to Burma any longer as NLD and the activists have shown no interest in his visits and they, the junta, cannot use the UN and its attention for their advantage. It was a big loss for them, I guess, and a deep embarrassment as it is the way how they are seen as untrustworthy creatures.

It must be also a desperate act of the junta to remove her from public view in order to avoid any unwanted things from happening during coming election – such as the NLD members supporting a certain party as they can be organised in unity.

If NLD doesn’t participate, this election is not legitimate.

I wonder if the UN could pay attention to what happening in Burma. But UN should rather approach a different way as the generals have no intention to change their minds.

If ASEAN has to engage in Burma issue, this time it has no choice but to face the generals. Or it can ignore whatever happening politically in the region.

The US and EU have political powers, military powers and many more. But they are no longer above China both politically and economically as China has maintained the stalemate in global balance.

Eventually, it’s clear that it’s our duty to free ourselves.
